What Does This Mean?
In French gaming and online-community talk, a « ban » on Discord is a server moderation sanction: an administrator or moderator removes a member and blocks them from returning to that server. It differs from a kick, which only removes the person and allows them to rejoin. French users say « se faire ban » or « ban discord » for being banned, and the ban can be temporary or permanent.
REAL-WORLD EXAMPLE
"Il a spammé le salon plusieurs fois, résultat : ban discord."
LORE & ORIGIN
French moderation guidance states that moderators can apply temporary or permanent bans on a Discord server, after warnings, to handle abuse. Wiktionnaire's entry for « bannir » covers the general sense of exclusion; the English-origin clipped noun « ban » for the online sanction is a recent usage with no dated source found yet.
