XBrainrotTHE INTERESTING WAY TO UNDERSTAND INTERNET CULTURE

Methodology

How we calculate the Brainrot Score and Aura Impact rating shown on every term.

BRAINROT SCORE

The Brainrot Score is a 0โ€“10 rating of how deeply a term has saturated internet culture โ€” a blend of how widely it is recognized, how fast it spread, and how "terminally online" its usage feels. A higher score means the term is more ubiquitous, more meme-ified, and more likely to be instantly understood (and used unironically) by extremely online audiences.

Reach & Recognition:How many platforms and communities actively use the term
Velocity:How quickly mentions have grown over the tracked period
Cultural Saturation:Whether the term has crossed over from niche slang into mainstream meme usage
Longevity Signal:Whether usage is sustained or a short-lived spike
0โ€“3: Emerging / niche ย ยทย  4โ€“6: Established slang ย ยทย  7โ€“8: Mainstream meme ย ยทย  9โ€“10: Peak cultural saturation

AURA IMPACT

Aura Impact estimates whether using a term โ€” or being described by it โ€” tends to raise or lower someone's perceived social status (their "aura") within internet culture. It is expressed as a signed number: positive values mean the term is associated with status gains (looking good, winning, high-value behavior), while negative values mean the term is associated with status loss (cringe, embarrassment, low-value behavior).

+60 to +100:Strongly positive โ€” the term signals dominance, attractiveness, or success
+1 to +59:Mildly positive โ€” a flex, but not a major status jump
0:Neutral โ€” descriptive term with no inherent status charge
-1 to -59:Mildly negative โ€” implies a minor loss of social standing
-60 to -100:Strongly negative โ€” implies a major loss of social standing or public embarrassment

Aura Impact is a cultural sentiment estimate, not a literal point system โ€” it reflects how the term is typically deployed in context (e.g. as a compliment, an insult, or a neutral description).
