blogosphère

Brainrot Score: 3.5 ⓘOBSERVED
[ INTERNET CULTURE ][ MULTILINGUAL NATIVE ]

French word for the whole set of blogs, or for the community of their authors, seen as a connected social space where bloggers link to and comment on each other. It is the French counterpart of the English « blogosphere », which has its own entry, and it is also used for a particular circle, such as the political or fashion blogosphere.

REAL-WORLD EXAMPLE

"La blogosphère mode a beaucoup commenté ce lancement."

LORE & ORIGIN

French Wikipedia defines « blogosphère » as either a set of blogs or the set of their authors, noting that the platform history includes Blogger (1999), Skyblog (2002 to 2023), CanalBlog and Hautetfort (2003), and that Libération used related terms such as « blogeoisie » and « carnetosphère » in 2006. The English « blogosphere » is recorded as coined in 2002, from which the French calque derives. Unlike the English entry, this one concerns the French-language use of the word.
