What Does This Mean?
An AI video format that takes the "Smalltown Boy" dance clip, in which one person screams in the foreground while another dances behind, and re-renders it with uploaded photos so that each person plays both roles. It builds on the 2024 TikTok trend of people dancing to Bronski Beat's 1984 song as if it were the 1980s.

REAL-WORLD EXAMPLE
""We ran the Smalltown Boy AI template with two photos and swapped the screamer and the dancer.""
LORE & ORIGIN
Bronski Beat released "Smalltown Boy" on 25 May 1984 and the song resurfaced on TikTok around its 40th anniversary, when Stereogum reported on 25 May 2024 that young people were asking their parents to dance to it as if in the 1980s. An AI video-generator template page describes the later format as a roughly 14-second courtyard clip with the two people swapping places. No dated source for the first AI version found yet.
