Deepfake Voice Examples?
4.6BRAINROT SCOREDeepfake Voice A synthetic recording that imitates a real person's voice using AI, usually produced to make it seem the person said words they never said. It is used mostly when the imitation is deceptive, as in phone scams and political fake audio, as opposed to openly labelled voice cloning.
Origin:The word combines "deepfake" with "voice"; the technology is also called audio deepfake, voice cloning or deepfake audio. Reported cases include a 2019 fraud in which a company executive was imitated by phone to obtain a transfer of 220,000 euros, a fake clip released around the UK Labour conference in October 2023, and robocalls in January 2024 imitating the US president to discourage voting in New Hampshire, after which the US telecommunications regulator banned AI-generated voices in robocalls. A web demo in March 2020 showed that a convincing voice could be generated from about 15 seconds of audio. Differs from voice-clone, which names the technique in general, by stressing deceptive use.
