Pokero Examples?

3.6BRAINROT SCORE

pokero Informal Spanish label, especially in Madrid, for a youth type of the 2000s linked to the Spanish club scene, usually described with a cap worn with a raised brim, gold accessories and sportswear. It overlaps with "cani" and "poligonero" and is often used in a mocking or derogatory way.

Origin:A 2009 forum post on Areopago says pokeros appeared around 2001-2002 as a mix of the bakalas of the Valencian bakalao scene and gitano style, adds that nobody knows why the styles merged, and lists caps and gold accessories as identity markers; a reply says canis are the same group in other cities while Madrid calls them pokeros. A 2022 Ethic essay says that in the 2000s the term poligonero came to cover pokeros and "canis post-bakalas" who lived and went out in the industrial estates. These are informal and opinion sources, not a sociological definition, and no dated first use is documented.
