What Is Deafen?
3.0BRAINROT SCOREDeafen On Discord and similar voice chat apps, a control that turns off all incoming sound so you cannot hear anyone; in Discord it also mutes your own microphone. People say they "deafened" to step away, avoid noise or spoilers, or ignore a conversation, and a deafened user shows a slashed headphone icon.
Origin:Wiktionary lists only the ordinary senses of deafen (to make deaf, to soundproof, to stun with noise) and no Discord sense, and the Wikipedia Discord article does not cover voice controls; Discord's own help pages could not be opened. The voice-chat meaning is therefore a product term applied from the ordinary verb and described here from general knowledge of the app's behaviour. No dated first use is documented in the pages consulted. This is a weak entry and is kept short.
