What Does This Mean?
A Discord mention that sends a notification to every member who can see the channel, used for announcements and also for jokes or pranks. Because it alerts so many people, servers usually restrict who may use it, and members treat an unneeded @everyone as annoying or rude.
REAL-WORLD EXAMPLE
""Someone just pinged @everyone to ask what time the stream starts.""
LORE & ORIGIN
Discord's help pages could not be opened, and the Wikipedia Discord article does not cover mentions. A Discord support-forum request, seen only as a search result, states that in the API @everyone and @here set a single mention-everyone flag; a third-party guide, also not opened, describes @everyone as notifying all channel members whether or not they are online. No dated first use is documented in the pages consulted, so the mechanics described are general platform knowledge. This is a weak entry.
