What Does This Mean?

[ SLANG ][ FANDOM ][ FANFICTION ]

Fandom slang for fan fiction about the imagined activities of real musicians or bands. It is a subset of real person fiction (RPF); the same stories were also called popslash or actorfic when about pop acts or actors.

REAL-WORLD EXAMPLE

""Her bandfic archive has hundreds of stories about touring bands.""

LORE & ORIGIN

Wiktionary defines it as a fandom-slang compound of band and fic. Wikipedia's real person fiction article names bandfic among terms used before RPF became common and traces band-based stories to at least the 1970s, with Led Zeppelin fanzine stories in 1977. Fanlore, as summarised in search results, treats it as a subset of RPF.
