What Does This Mean?

Blogroll

Brainrot Score: 3.5 ⓘOBSERVED
[ SLANG ][ ENGLISH DAILY ][ OLD WEB ]

A list of links to other blogs that a blogger recommends, usually shown in the sidebar. It is a plain blogging term more than slang, and the practice faded as social media replaced sidebars as the place to recommend sources.

REAL-WORLD EXAMPLE

""She keeps a blogroll in her sidebar with a dozen blogs she reads every week.""

LORE & ORIGIN

Wikipedia's blogging glossary defines a blogroll as a list of other blogs that a blogger might recommend by providing links to them, usually in a sidebar list. Wiktionary calls it a noun from Internet culture, a blend of "blog" and "logroll" or a back-formation from "blogrolling", with related term blogring, and gives no dated citations. No coiner or first use is documented; the claim that the practice declined is an observation, not from either source.
