What Does This Mean?

[ SLANG ][ MULTILINGUAL NATIVE ]

Brazilian gamer word for the low end of the ranked ladder, and by extension for a player who plays badly. "Ser bronze" or "jogar de bronze" is a common tease about skill in League of Legends and other competitive games; "bronze" is also simply the name of one of the ranked tiers.

REAL-WORLD EXAMPLE

""Esse cara joga como se fosse bronze, nem o minion ele acerta.""

LORE & ORIGIN

From the Bronze tier of the League of Legends ranked ladder. Portuguese Wikipedia lists Ferro (Iron), Bronze and Prata (Silver) as the lowest elos and says Iron and Grandmaster were added in 2018, so Bronze stopped being the lowest tier then. Mein-MMO (20 Sep 2018) reports that the lowest Bronze division was already used as a joke about bad plays. The wider insult sense in Brazilian Portuguese is not dated by the pages opened.
