What Does This Mean?
Brazilian Portuguese gaming phrase typed in chat at the end of a match, combining "gg" (good game) with English "easy". Said by the winning side, it is a taunt meaning the win was effortless and is usually read as provocative rather than as a courtesy.
REAL-WORLD EXAMPLE
""Ganhamos em dez minutos, gg easy", escreveu o adversário no chat final."
LORE & ORIGIN
Spelled-out English form of the taunt "GG EZ" ("good game, easy"), written in full in Brazilian match chats. Canaltech (6 Dec 2021) describes "GG EZ" as a sarcastic comment from the winning team at the end of a match. Know Your Meme (14 Apr 2023) traces "GG" to an Internet Chess Club article of October 1999 and the earliest "EZ" submission to the Urban Dictionary forums on 10 March 2003, with "GG EZ" appearing soon after "EZ" took off. It is the unabbreviated sibling of the existing "gg-ez" and of "gg-izi", which respells "easy" as "izi".
