What Does This Mean?

[ SLANG ][ MULTILINGUAL NATIVE ]

A regular user of the Jeuxvideo.com (JVC) forums; also an adjective for what belongs to the site's forum community and its culture.

REAL-WORLD EXAMPLE

"Comme tout bon jvcien, il passe plus de temps sur le forum que sur le jeu dont il parle."

LORE & ORIGIN

French forum word formed from JVC, the usual abbreviation of Jeuxvideo.com, with the suffix -ien (as in « parisien »). Forum posts use it as a neutral label (« tout bon jvcien », « un jvcien lambda »), as a jokey self-description, as a mocking one, and as an adjective (« le langage JVCien »). The JVFlux wiki, which documents the culture of these forums, also uses « JVCien » as an adjective in titles such as « Théorie du complot JVCien », a parody theory. It names the person and the community, whereas « jvc » names the site. The first use is not documented; posts using it are attested from 2011 onward.
