What Does This Mean?
[ NETWORK CULTURE ][ MACHINE CULTURE ]
A device or technique used to deliberately induce artificial lag on your own connection during online gaming, giving yourself an unfair advantage by disrupting how opponents see your movements.
REAL-WORLD EXAMPLE
"That guy was definitely using a lag switch, his movement kept teleporting in a way normal lag never does."
LORE & ORIGIN
Emerged in early-2000s online console gaming communities as a literal hardware device (interrupting your own network connection on a timer) before evolving into a general term for any deliberate connection-throttling cheat.
