What Does This Mean?
Humorous internet slang for a landlord who embodies the "Chad" ideal of a confident, dominant man, used most in the parody community r/LoveForLandlords, where members pose as proud property owners. It is a satirical, tenant-mocking label, and outsiders often read the joke as a comment on how some landlords view renters.
REAL-WORLD EXAMPLE
""The thread was full of landchad posts about rent hikes, and half the replies were people checking whether it was a parody.""
LORE & ORIGIN
VICE reported on March 3, 2021 that r/LoveForLandlords, a parody subreddit whose members stay in character as landlords, calls landlords "landchads" and renters "rentoids", with posts that follow the virgin-versus-chad format. MEL Magazine wrote on July 11, 2022 that members describe a landchad as a well-fed landlord and that the group had passed r/LandlordLove in membership. Wiktionary lists it as a blend of landlord and Chad.
