What Does 'LFG / Looking for Group' Mean?

A standard phrase or channel used to announce that a player is searching for others to form a temporary group for content, one of the earliest formalized systems for organizing strangers into cooperative play.

Standard MMO chat vocabulary from the late 1990s onward, formalizing the search for a pick-up group into a recognized phrase and, later, a dedicated in-game system across nearly every subsequent multiplayer game.
