[ SLANG ][ TECH ][ INSULT ]
A derogatory nickname for Linux, mostly used on Reddit and forums to mock the operating system or its fans. A derived form, loonixtard, also exists.
REAL-WORLD EXAMPLE
""The thread turned into people trading Loonix jokes until a mod locked it.""
LORE & ORIGIN
Wiktionary lists Loonix as Reddit slang, usually derogatory, blending loon with Linux and possibly shaped by the -oomer suffix of Wojak characters. A separate Lunix entry gives it as an alternative spelling, a blend of Linux and lunatic or loon, marked dysphemistic. Neither entry gives a date or coiner.
