What Does This Mean?

metroflog

Brainrot Score: 3.9 ⓘOBSERVED
[ SLANG ][ MULTILINGUAL NATIVE ]

Name of a Spanish-language photo-sharing site (one photo a day plus a short caption, with comments called "zings"); "tener un metroflog" meant keeping a page there.

REAL-WORLD EXAMPLE

"I used to update my metroflog every day and wait for the zings."

LORE & ORIGIN

Metroflog was a photo-sharing social network founded in Buenos Aires in 2006 as a rival to Fotolog, copying its one-photo-a-day format. Spanish-language retrospectives (LOS40 Mexico, Genbeta) say it was most popular in the mid/late 2000s in Spanish-speaking countries, called photo comments "zings", and shut down in 2015 (LOS40 gives July 10, 2015). Exact peak figures were not verified. It sits beside the existing "fotolog" entry as the competing site, with its own page style and comment culture rather than the same platform.
