What Does This Mean?
An internet slang noun for a post that is fragmented, incoherent or conspiratorial in tone, usually written or staged as dark humour rather than by someone in a real crisis. The word is built from the clinical prefix schizo- plus post and is used jokingly or pejoratively; it is not a medical term and it says nothing reliable about any real person.
REAL-WORLD EXAMPLE
""His 3 a.m. schizopost was all red string, grainy photos and one very confident arrow.""
LORE & ORIGIN
Wiktionary defines schizopost as a genuine-looking post that seems to show schizophrenia, or a meme or humorous post that imitates it, and lists the noun and the verb schizoposting. Its earliest dated citations are from 2022 (Daily Kos on July 7, 2022, Psychology Today on October 25, 2022, Dazed on October 28, 2022). Wikipedia places the practice on Twitter, 4chan and Reddit and notes critics who say it stigmatises mental illness.
