What Does This Mean?
The deliberate destruction of an online community server, especially on Discord, by mass-deleting channels, roles and messages or mass-banning members, often with a script or bot. It is treated as vandalism by communities and platforms, and as a security risk when someone gains administrator access.
REAL-WORLD EXAMPLE
"The moderators restored the channels from a backup after a hijacked bot ran a server nuke overnight."
LORE & ORIGIN
Wiktionary records the internet-slang verb sense of nuke as maliciously destroying an online community or chat server, especially on Discord, by mass-deleting channels, roles and messages or by mass-banning members, often using an automated script or bot. Server nuke is the noun or event form of that use, from nuke as total destruction. It differs from a server raid, which usually means a flood of users or messages arriving from outside, while a nuke destroys the existing structure, commonly after an account or bot gains permissions. No source documents a first use.
