What Does This Mean?
A tone indicator typed at the end of a message to mark a romantic statement, so the reader knows the words are meant romantically. It is used in online communities and by people who find tone hard to read in plain text, including many neurodivergent users. It should not be confused with /rt, which some lists use for a rhetorical question.
REAL-WORLD EXAMPLE
""You make every day better /r""
LORE & ORIGIN
Wikipedia's article on tone indicators lists /r for a romantic statement alongside /gen, /p and /t, and notes that such tags are especially popular with neurodivergent people. It gives no date for this tag. The tags are community-made and not standardised, so lists differ on related variants.
