topic locké

Brainrot Score: 3.9 ⓘOBSERVED
[ SLANG ][ MULTILINGUAL NATIVE ]

A discussion thread (topic) that a moderator has locked so it can still be read but no longer answered; « locker » is the French forum verb for this action.

REAL-WORLD EXAMPLE

"Le modo a locké le topic : on peut le lire, mais plus personne ne peut répondre."

LORE & ORIGIN

French forum slang built on the English word "lock" (« locker », past participle « locké »), applied to a topic closed to replies by a moderator. Observed on Jeuxvideo.com forums, where a moderator announces in a 2008 thread that she is locking the topic to avoid deleting a pile of useless messages. The exact first appearance is unknown. It is the French-forum form of the same moderation action covered by the English entries on locked threads; it adds the French verb and the « topic » vocabulary (see « topic »).
