What Does This Mean?
In online communities such as Discord, a member who holds the Administrator permission on a community server, which grants all permissions and bypasses channel-level permission overwrites. In the wider computing sense it is a system administrator who maintains servers and their users. It differs from server owner, the single account that owns the server and holds every permission automatically, and from the French shorthand admin Discord.

LORE & ORIGIN
Discord's developer documentation describes ADMINISTRATOR as a permission that allows all permissions and bypasses channel permission overwrites, and treats the owner separately. Discord was publicly released on May 13, 2015 (Wikipedia). Wikipedia's system administrator article covers the older role of keeping multi-user computers such as servers running. No dated first use of the phrase server admin was found.
