What Does This Mean?

[ SLANG ][ MULTILINGUAL NATIVE ]

Korean fandom slang for the fandom, group or idol a fan is most devoted to, their "home base". In idol fandoms it often points to the one member or group a fan follows most closely, as opposed to other acts they like on the side. This is the fandom sense, not the dictionary sense of 본진 as the main camp of an army.

REAL-WORLD EXAMPLE

"She follows several groups, but her "본진" is still the one she saw at her first concert."

LORE & ORIGIN

본진 is a Sino-Korean word meaning a main camp or headquarters, with 본 (main) and 진 (camp). In Korean fandom talk it was extended to the object of one's main devotion. No source opened documents the date or community of that shift, and fan usage varies between communities, with some using it for a group and others for a single member.
