What Does This Mean?

[ SLANG ][ MULTILINGUAL NATIVE ]

儲 (read cho in this slang, ordinarily もうける) is a Japanese internet label for a blind, uncritical devotee of a person, brand or product, the counterpart of アンチ. The character is a visual pun: it is read as 亻 plus 諸, and is explained as the pieces of 信者 ("believer") fitted together. The label is derogatory, used by critics about fans, and fans rarely apply it to themselves.

REAL-WORLD EXAMPLE

""Critics call anyone who defends every release of that company a 儲.""

LORE & ORIGIN

The Weblio kanji page for 儲 only gives the ordinary senses (making a profit, storing up), so the net-slang use is a recent term; no dated source found yet in the pages opened. The pun on 信者 is the common explanation given by speakers. No coiner or first post is claimed. The existing anti entry covers the opposing camp.
