LORE & ORIGIN
Portuguese Wiktionary lists "farmar" as a video game verb (collecting items that raise a character's power), glossed with English "farm", with 2016 usage examples from Dota 2 and League of Legends guides. Showmetech's gamer dictionary (January 2022) has an entry "Farming / farmar" for actions aimed only at collecting resources such as items or experience. The Brazilian verb adapts English gamer "to farm" with the Portuguese -ar ending, in the same way as Spanish "farmear". The figurative use is covered by "farmar-aura", and the Spanish form by "farmear".
