What Does This Mean?
Literally "spread requested"; a tag or phrase added to a post asking readers to share or repost it widely, typically on Twitter/X, for example for a warning, an appeal for help or an announcement. Often written in brackets, as 【拡散希望】.
REAL-WORLD EXAMPLE
"【拡散希望】 Lost cat near the station, please repost."
LORE & ORIGIN
Compound of 拡散 (spreading, diffusion) and 希望 (request, wish). Dictionaries note that 拡散 now commonly means reposting or sharing content so that it reaches many people. A personal blog post of March 2011 quotes a tweet tagged 【拡散希望】, which shows the usage on Twitter by then; where and when it started is not documented.
