What Does This Mean?
Literally "bright enough to blind"; an exaggerated way to say something is so dazzling, impressive or flashy that it overwhelms the eyes, usually in the longer form 亮瞎眼 or the jokey 亮瞎了我的狗眼. It can be admiring or ironic.
REAL-WORLD EXAMPLE
"Seeing the stage lights and outfits, a fan wrote, "这场演出亮瞎了。""
LORE & ORIGIN
Chinese Wiktionary lists the example 亮瞎了我的狗眼 under a slang sense, glossed as so bright or excellent that one's delicate eyes have gone blind; 亮 (bright) plus 瞎 (blind) is an exaggerated compound. The bare form 亮瞎 is the clipped version of this pattern. No dated first use or originating community is documented.
