민초단

Brainrot Score: 4.5 ⓘOBSERVED
[ SLANG ][ MULTILINGUAL NATIVE ]

Korean internet term for the "camp" of people who love mint chocolate (민트초코) in the long-running joke debate over whether the flavor is delicious or terrible. The opposing camp is called 반민초단 (anti-mint-choco camp).

REAL-WORLD EXAMPLE

"When asked about his favorite ice cream flavor, he proudly said he was in the "민초단" and braced for the usual jokes."

LORE & ORIGIN

Formed from 민초 (short for 민트초코, mint chocolate) and 단 (group, corps). A December 2020 Kyunghyang Shinmun cover story described the debate as having produced the term, said the question "do you like mint chocolate?" spread as a meme among millennials, and listed celebrities sorted into pro and anti camps. Other press links the flavor's mainstream spread to Baskin-Robbins' mint chocolate chip ice cream and notes the many mint-chocolate products that followed. The exact date of first use is not documented in the sources found.
