What Does This Mean?
RT希望 (RT kibō, "RT wanted") is a Twitter phrase, also written リツイート希望, in which a poster asks followers to retweet the post, usually in brackets at the start such as 【RT希望】. It is typically used for missing-pet notices, event and giveaway announcements, and calls for help. Readers are advised to check such posts before sharing because requests can also spread unfounded rumours.
REAL-WORLD EXAMPLE
""【RT希望】 Our cat has been missing since Sunday near the station, please share.""
LORE & ORIGIN
Weblio defines RT希望 as the Twitter request for a retweet, normally written in brackets at the head of the tweet, and notes that it spreads information fast but can also spread rumours. No dated first use is named; it follows the retweet feature of Twitter. The existing kakusan-kibo entry (拡散希望) is the general "please spread" version; this one names the retweet.
