What Does This Mean?
Literally "god reply"; a brilliant or unexpectedly funny answer to a question or comment, usually in an online thread or Q&A. It praises a reply for its wit, imagination or a twist that defuses the question.
REAL-WORLD EXAMPLE
"Under the question, one answer got thousands of likes as a "神回复"."
LORE & ORIGIN
神 ("god") is a common intensifying prefix in Chinese web slang, and 回复 means a reply. A marketing-industry article uses 神回复 for witty, highly imaginative answers that go far beyond the obvious response, linked to 网友神评论 (netizen comments). The word 神回 on its own is used in anime fandom for an outstanding episode, so 神回复 may extend that pattern, but this link is an inference. No dated first use is documented.
