What Does This Mean?
すこ民 (suko-min) is Japanese net slang for the people who like or are fans of something, formed from すこ (net slang for 好き, like) plus 民 (people, residents), the same pattern as なんJ民 or スレ民. It is used loosely for a fan community around a character, creator, team or game, often in the form 〇〇すこ民. The standalone label is not defined in the dictionaries opened.
REAL-WORLD EXAMPLE
""この曲のサビ、すこ民が一斉にコメントしてて笑った。" (Everyone in the sukomin crowd commented on the chorus at once.)"
LORE & ORIGIN
An Oggi article (21 March 2024) explains that すこ means 好き and began around 2012 when a viewer of a Niconico live stream typed ここすこ instead of ここすき; the typo became popular, others imitated it deliberately, and it settled as slang. Derivatives include すこる and すこすこのすこ. The suffix 民 follows the established pattern of Japanese forum-community labels. A dated source for すこ民 itself was not found.
