What Does This Mean?
Informal Spanish verb, mostly among young speakers, meaning to have a crush on someone: to feel a romantic attraction, often unspoken or unrequited ("le estoy crusheando", "ando crushing"). It is built on the borrowed noun "crush" plus the verb ending "-ear". It has no normative backing in dictionaries of record.
REAL-WORLD EXAMPLE
"«Hace meses que lo estoy crusheando y no me animo a decirle nada», dijo ella."
LORE & ORIGIN
Cultura Colectiva (11 Aug 2026) defines "crush" as the person one feels intense, often unrequited, romantic attraction for, notes that the RAE records it as a raw foreign word, and says derived verb forms such as "le estoy crusheando" circulate in informal Spanish among young people and are not normative. The romantic sense of English "crush" is first recorded in 1884. The verb "crushear" itself has no dated first use found yet.
