What Does This Mean?

Absolute Unit

Brainrot Score: 7.2 ⓘOBSERVED
[ SLANG ][ REACTION_PHRASE ]

A superlative phrase used to describe someone or something unusually large, massive, or impressive in scale.

REAL-WORLD EXAMPLE

"That dog is an absolute unit."

LORE & ORIGIN

The phrase predates its famous sheep association: it began December 13, 2017, when X user @mrreptoid captioned a photo of hotelier David Morgan-Hewitt "Absolute unit." It was driven to mass virality by the UK's Museum of English Rural Life, which tweeted a 1962 photo (originally published in Farmer and Stockbreeder Magazine) of a large ram on April 9, 2018, captioned similarly — that tweet, not a government account, is what made the phrase explode.
