What Does This Mean?
Vulgar Korean internet slang, short for "취향 좆까", the opposite of 취존 (취향 존중, respecting others' tastes). It means belittling a person's preferences or the fans of a genre or work simply because one dislikes them, as distinct from criticism that rests on concrete points. The label contains a sexual expletive, so broadcasters rarely use it. It is sometimes shortened to 췹, and 내리취좆 names looking down on less mainstream tastes.
REAL-WORLD EXAMPLE
"남의 취향을 무조건 깎아내리는 건 취좆이지 비판이 아니다."
LORE & ORIGIN
Namuwiki says the exact start of the term is unknown and that it likely derives from 취존, which spread from otaku circles after the phrase "취향입니다 존중해주시죠" became popular. The page links its spread to gender conflict in Korean otaku communities from around 2015, and cites 2016 and 2020s controversies as flashpoints. It is used mainly in otaku and pop-culture communities.
