What Does This Mean?
[ TECH ][ PROTOCOL ][ IRC ]
Direct Client-to-Client: an IRC sub-protocol that uses the IRC server to introduce two users, who then chat or transfer files directly with each other outside the network.
REAL-WORLD EXAMPLE
""She sent the zine over DCC because the channel had a file ban.""
LORE & ORIGIN
Wikipedia says Troy Rollo implemented DCC in 1991 for ircII version 2.1.2, after CTCP appeared in 1990; there is no RFC for it, and its DCC CHAT messages are not encrypted by default.
