What Does This Mean?
Literally "has knelt"; a jokey Chinese internet exclamation meaning "I give up" or "I'm blown away", said when someone is overwhelmed by something impressive, absurd or exasperating. The kneeling is figurative.
REAL-WORLD EXAMPLE
"Watching the player clear the level blindfolded, the commenter wrote, "跪了,真的跪了。""
LORE & ORIGIN
The word is a colloquial figurative use of 跪 (to kneel) with the completed-action particle 了, and its sense is close to 服了 ("I concede"). It overlaps with the existing entry 给跪了, the longer form with 给; 跪了 is the plain short form. The kneeling image is often associated with the orz/OTL emoticon, which resembles a kneeling person and spread from Japanese forums to Chinese ones around 2003, but a source tying 跪了 itself to it was not found. No dated first use is documented.
