What Does This Mean?
Literally "harmonious"; used as a verb in Chinese internet speech, 被和谐 or 和谐了, to say that a post, video, account or keyword was removed or blocked. It is a euphemism that lets users mention content moderation without using the word directly.
REAL-WORLD EXAMPLE
"那条视频刚发就被和谐了。"
LORE & ORIGIN
The usage plays on the "harmonious society" (和谐社会) policy slogan, which China Digital Times dates to the mid-2000s (introduced 2006), and on the near-homophone 河蟹 (river crab), which Chinese Wikipedia describes as a stand-in for blocking and covering up content. Zh.wiktionary lists the slang verb sense (to censor or delete, as in 被和谐). The exact date of the first verb use is not documented.
