What Does This Mean?

注孤生

Brainrot Score: 3.9 ⓘOBSERVED
[ SLANG ][ MULTILINGUAL NATIVE ]

Commonly explained as short for 注定孤独终生 / 注定孤独一生 ("destined to be alone for life"); a teasing, sometimes put-down remark about someone who seems doomed to stay single.

REAL-WORLD EXAMPLE

"He ignored his girlfriend for a game all evening; destined to be single forever."

LORE & ORIGIN

Chinese internet shorthand, usually glossed as 注定孤独终生 (Baidu Baike titles its entry 注定孤独一生). It is used to tease long-term singles or people whose habits are thought to put off partners, and can come across as a mild insult. Baidu Baike links it to the "Forever Alone" rage-comic face and the novel title One Hundred Years of Solitude; that is an encyclopedia claim and was not independently confirmed. The earliest dated use found is a 17173 gaming-news headline of 1 November 2015, so it was circulating by then; the true first use is unknown.
