What Does This Mean?
Short for 검색방지 ("search prevention"): writing a name or keyword in an altered form, such as inserting spaces or symbols, using a nickname, or swapping letters, so that posts about it are harder to find by search. It is used mostly in fan communities so that fans of one idol are not drawn into clashes with fans of another. Because the altered terms must be shared to be understood, they spread widely, so the practice only sorts posts roughly and does not truly hide them. Variants are 서방 and 써방.
REAL-WORLD EXAMPLE
"이 그룹 얘기는 검방해서 쓰자, 검색하면 다 보여."
LORE & ORIGIN
Namuwiki's entry says the practice grew out of fan culture in communities such as DC Inside and is also seen on other communities and on X (Twitter). It lists methods like inserting dots or numbers, using a special nickname, and 야민정음-style look-alike letters. The page gives no coinage date.
