What Does This Mean?
Brazilian Portuguese slang for a person born and raised in São Paulo ("SP"), usually from its outskirts, who carries that origin with pride. It is the São Paulo form of the slang noun "cria", which in this sense has nothing to do with the dictionary meaning of a young animal.

LORE & ORIGIN
A São Paulo slang guide on the BlaBlaCar blog (29 Sep 2024) defines "os cria" as those who were born and raised in the quebrada (the neighbourhood), and says being a cria is a source of pride; its example is about the cria from the South Zone. Dicio lists only the dictionary senses of "cria" (a young animal, or a person raised by non-relatives). Brasil de Fato (23 Apr 2022) reports on the Dicionário Capão, which collects more than 450 slang terms from the Racionais MC's lyrics. The exact phrase "cria de SP" is not defined in the pages opened.
