J民 (jei-min, "J people") is the short form of なんJ民: a regular user or resident of なんJ (なんでも実況J), a board on the Japanese anonymous forum 5ch (formerly 2ch). The label covers the board's community and its blunt, playful way of talking, and is used both by members about themselves and by outsiders.

REAL-WORLD EXAMPLE

""野球の話になるとJ民がすぐ集まってくる。" (Whenever baseball comes up, the J regulars gather right away.)"

LORE & ORIGIN

なんでも実況J was set up on 2ch and began as a place for live commentary, mainly on baseball. Business Journal explains that around 2009 restrictions on the baseball board pushed many baseball fans to なんJ, and that the board is known for netslang such as ワイ将, ~ンゴ, ぐう~ and ~ニキ. Details of who started calling residents J民 are not documented.
