地雷系 (jirai-kei, "landmine style") is a Japanese fashion and makeup style among young women built on black, or black and pink, with frills and ribbons, platform shoes, dark-motif accessories (crosses, hearts), Sanrio-type accessories and "crying face" eye makeup with drooping, red-shadowed eyes. It reads darker than the related 量産型 style, and the two often mix.

REAL-WORLD EXAMPLE

""She came to the concert in a full 地雷系 outfit: black dress, pink ribbons and teary eye makeup.""

LORE & ORIGIN

Wikipedia (ja, 量産型・地雷系) says the style formed in the 2010s and boomed in the 2020s as a stronger version of 病み系 (which settled around 2014-2015), named after the slang 地雷 for a woman seen as emotionally fragile or intense in affection; the word later came to mean the style itself. Spread through Instagram and YouTube makeup videos from 2019 and pandemic-era mask life are cited as background. Sasaki Chiwawa is quoted describing it as a stronger 病み系.
