What Does This Mean?
Korean internet practice of writing a name or keyword in an altered form so that people searching for it will not find the post. Typical alterations described in community glossaries are consonant-only abbreviations (ㅎㄱㄷ), look-alike letter swaps (홍길동 to 횽귈둉), nicknames, and inserted spaces or symbols. It is most common in fan communities, where fans or the idols themselves might otherwise stumble on a post. The shortened forms 검방 and 써방 (from 'search prevention') are used too; 검방 is a separate entry in this corpus, while this entry covers the full phrase. Writing this way does not reliably block search, and it is a convention of community etiquette rather than a rule.
REAL-WORLD EXAMPLE
"이 글은 검색방지로 이름 말고 별명으로 쓸게요."
LORE & ORIGIN
The practice is described in community glossaries and a Twitter glossary-bot post as a fan-culture habit that developed on communities such as DC Inside and is also seen on social media. No dated source documents the coinage; the date and coiner are not yet documented.
