What Does This Mean?
Literally "flash-body step"; a basic step of Anhui flower-drum lantern (花鼓灯) folk dance in which the body suddenly slides sideways, led by the waist. It went viral in late September 2026 when a clip from an old teaching video spread on short-video platforms, and people use it jokingly to dodge or slip away.

REAL-WORLD EXAMPLE
"Squeezing out of the crowded subway car, he did a quick "闪身步.""
LORE & ORIGIN
A Guokr piece carried by The Paper on 2026-09-27 says 闪身步 comes from Anhui 花鼓灯, was demonstrated in a teaching video by Beijing Dance Academy professor 赵铁春, and spread after netizens reposted the old clips on Douyin and Xiaohongshu, with celebrities and a variety show imitating it. A Sohu article of 2026-09-29 gives the source as the 2018 teaching video 《安徽花鼓灯(男班)》 and says the step was traditionally a comic dodge between the female 兰花 and male 鼓架子 roles.
